Apache Wedding Blessing

You will feel no rain for each will shelter the other. You will feel no cold for each warms the other. There will be no loneliness, for you are two persons with one life before you. Go now to your dwelling place, begin the days of your togetherness. And may your days be good and long upon Mother Earth.

Footprints

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. In each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand...one belonging to him and the other to the Lord. When the last scene had flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints and noticed that many times along the path, there was only one set of footprints in the sand. He also noticed that this happened during the lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him...and he questioned the Lord. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why...when I needed you the most, you deserted me." The Lord replied ~My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints... It was then that I carried you.

Irish Blessing

May the roads rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. May rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Success

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life ha breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Two Roads

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; then took the other, as just as fair, and having perhaps the better claim, because it was grassy and wanted wear; though as for that the passing there had worn them really about the same, and both that morning equally lay in leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I~ I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. Robert Frost

Nelson Mandela (Excerpts from speech by)

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves: "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?" Actually,  who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. Excerpted from Nelson Mandela's 1994 speech

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
